"Remind Me" is a set of cards developed by Learning Roots, an Islamic publisher of educational products. Remind Me is categorized under their Early Years category, and is thus suited for children as young as three or four years old.
Technically, Remind Me are du'a cards, reminders of du'as (invocations) that Muslims say daily. The cards can be displayed around the house. The size and visibility of the cards make them attractive items suited for house decor. Alternatively the cards can be kept in a file or box and brought out for learning purposes.
What is in the "Remind Me" Pack
The Remind Me pack comprises of six different cards, printed on high quality, laminated material. Each card contains two du'as relating to the same activity. The six cards are:
- Sleeping and Waking Up - one du'a before going to bed and another to be recited upon waking up.
- Entering and Exiting the Toilet - one du'a that should be recited before entering the toilet and another after exiting the toilet.
- Morning & Evening - a du'a for mornings and another to be read in the evening.
- Leaving & Returning Home - a du'a to be read before leaving the house and one when returning from a journey.
- Getting Dressed - a du'a for getting dressed and a du'a after being done with a set of clothes.
- Before and After Eating - a du'a that should be read before eating and another one for after a meal.
The Best Way to use the "Remind Me" Cards
The Remind Me cards are really quite artistically designed so it would be a shame not to display them around the house. Since they are daily du'as that should be practiced frequently, there is no harm in taping them to the walls where appropriate. The Sleeping and Waking Up card can easily be tacked to a wall or board in the children's bedroom and Before and After Eating can go in the kitchen or dining area.
Children as young as 3 or 4 are generally just beginning to recognize the alphabet or master basic reading skills. But having parents or elder siblings recite the du'as for them on a daily basis will help them commit the same to memory.
With the English translation also printed on the card, it is also easy to learn the meaning of each du'a.
Learning Roots has also printed the transliteration of the Arabic sentences to help those who are still learning to read Arabic.
"Remind Me" is A Great Tool for a Muslim Homeschool
The Remind Me product is a great tool for Muslim homeschoolers who wish to infuse daily reminders of Allah into their home and create an environment for their children that revolves around the Prophetic Sunnah (traditions) of Islam. Even for non-homeschooling families, the Remind Me set is a great way to add colors of the Islamic faith to the Muslim home.
